On July 7, 2022, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper signed into law HB 791, enacting the Counseling Compact there. This brings compact membership to 16 states.
Over the next few months, the member states will nominate their commission delegates and the commission will officially convene its first meeting in October to draft the rules and bylaws of compact. Further information about the meeting can be found at https://prod761aul1.wpenginepowered.com/compact-commission/meetings/.
Once the commission delegates agree upon rules and establish a method for information sharing, member states can begin granting compact privileges to practitioners in other compact member states. Applications for compact privileges are expected to open in late 2023 or early 2024.
