On May 27, 2022, Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee signed Senate Bill 1027 into law. This makes Tennessee the 11th state to enact the Counseling Compact.
Having reached the minimum threshold of ten states to activate the compact, member states are in the process of establishing the Compact Commission. Over the next few months, the member states will nominate their Commission delegates and the Commission will officially convene its first meeting to draft the rules and bylaws of Compact.
Once the Commissioners agree upon rules and establish a method for information sharing, states may grant Compact licenses to the practitioners residing in Compact member states.
